Harsha Marti (JD-MBA ‘02) Establishes the Marti Family Fellowship

Northwestern Pritzker School of Law is delighted to announce that Harsha Marti (JD-MBA ’02) and Meera Malhotra Marti have generously committed $250,000 to establish and fund the Marti Family Fellowship, which will be used to host visiting assistant professors (VAP) at the Law School. The Fellowship will offer aspiring scholars a much-needed pathway to a career in law teaching by providing mentorship, opportunities to present research, and academic placement support.

“We are extremely grateful to Harsha and Meera Marti for their generosity in establishing the Marti Family Fellowship, which will expand opportunities for those interested in pursuing an academic career,” Dean Hari Osofsky said. “The visiting assistant professor program that it creates will ensure that the next generation of legal scholars have the time, mentoring, and support needed to develop their research and launch their academic careers.”

Harsha Marti is a Managing Director and General Counsel at Warburg Pincus, overseeing legal and regulatory matters, and he is also a member of the Executive Management Group. Additionally, Mr. Marti is a member of the Law Board of the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, where he sits on the Executive Committee, and co-chair of the Board of Directors of the Brooklyn Org.

“The Marti Family Fellowship will create a new pathway for aspiring legal scholars, particularly those with practice experience and backgrounds who are traditionally underrepresented in legal academia,” said Mr. Marti. “Our hope is that the success of this model is replicated by other law schools. A nationwide network of similar VAP programs could help to bring new voices into the classroom and fresh perspectives to legal scholarship, advancing the cause of justice that is at the very core of legal education.”

Prior to joining Warburg Pincus, Mr. Marti was at the law firm of Kirkland & Ellis L.L.P. in New York where he was an attorney focused on private equity transactions. He received a Bachelor of Science (SB) in Materials Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a JD-MBA from the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and the Kellogg School of Management. His wife, Meera Malhotra Marti, an experienced attorney, is a graduate of Columbia Law School and serves on the Board of Trustees of the Packer Collegiate Institute and Arena.
