On May 20, Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and Intelligence Squared hosted the third Newt and Jo Minow Debate, “The Electoral College Has Outlived Its Usefulness.”
A message from Dean Daniel Rodriguez:
I am delighted to share the news that we are deepening our partnership with the Kellogg School of Management through a curricular innovation that further substantiates our leadership in preparing students to navigate the complex legal and business issues of today’s economy. Starting in Fall 2017, our JD and LLM students will have the opportunity to take a suite of five core Kellogg courses taught by full-time Kellogg professors, devoted solely to our law students.
The courses, each offered in full 65-student sections, will be identical in content and format to those taught to Kellogg MBA students. Offerings include: Accounting for Decisionmaking; Business Analytics; Business Strategy; Finance 1; and Leadership in Organizations.
Northwestern Law has long been a leader in curricular and programming innovation in the law-business space. In addition to a comprehensive set of business law offerings and hands-on experiences such as the Structuring Transactions classes, we established the nation’s first 3-year JD-MBA program, which continues to be the largest and most prestigious; we introduced the Master of Science in Law degree to provide practical, business-centered legal training to STEM professionals; and our Donald Pritzker Entrepreneurship Law Center was one of the first programs to offer hands-on clinical experience for students who aspire to be transactional lawyers and entrepreneurs.
We believe that clients increasingly expect their lawyers to be fully conversant with modern business practices. Our research with the practitioner community through the Center for Practice Engagement and Innovation (CPEI) reaffirmed this belief, and appropriately educating our students in these areas is a key priority of our strategic plan.
This partnership ensures that we continue to prepare the strongest business-minded lawyers, and it reinforces our commitment to breaking down silos within professional education. We are grateful to Dean Sally Blount and our Kellogg partners for their collaboration on this exciting endeavor.
