Northwestern Pritzker School of Law has launched the Opening Doors campaign, a major initiative aimed at expanding access to legal education and reducing the financial barriers that shape who can attend law school and what they are able to do after they graduate.

At a time when the cost of legal education continues to rise, the campaign reflects a clear priority: ensuring that talented, high-achieving students can pursue a Northwestern Pritzker Law education without being constrained by financial burden.

“Today, pursuing a legal education is more expensive than ever,” said Dean Zachary D. Clopton. “The expense of law school is a burden that shapes not only students’ experiences in law school, but also their career choices and opportunities after graduation.”

The Opening Doors campaign seeks to raise $30 million in scholarship funding. By expanding donor-supported scholarships, Northwestern Law aims to reduce student debt, increase access for students from a wide range of backgrounds, and strengthen its ability to attract and support top talent.

Beyond financial relief, the campaign is grounded in a broader vision for the future of legal education and the profession.

“When we create access through scholarships, we are not only supporting individual students, we are shaping the future of the legal profession,” Clopton said. “We are ensuring that talented individuals can pursue meaningful careers and lead with purpose.”

Scholarship support plays a critical role in enabling students to fully engage in their education—academically, professionally, and personally—without the constraints of financial pressure.

For many students, that support is transformative.

“When I received my scholarship, it changed everything,” said Victoria Cabral, a third-year student at Northwestern Pritzker Law. “It meant I could pursue this path without the weight of overwhelming debt—and focus on building the future I had worked toward.”

Stories like Victoria’s underscore the impact of philanthropic investment in legal education. By removing barriers and expanding opportunity, donor support helps ensure that students are able not only to attend law school, but to thrive once they arrive.

Through Opening Doors, Northwestern Pritzker Law is building on that commitment—creating a more accessible, supportive, and forward-looking environment for the next generation of legal leaders.
